What is a URL ?

A URL is short for Uniform Resource Locator, which uniquely identifies a document, file or other resource on the Internet.

How URLs work

The first part of the URL address indicates what protocol to use to connect to the resource, and the second part specifies the IP Address or Domain Name where the resource can be found.  For example; our web site home page URL is:

http://www.CoolTribalArts.com/home.asp
where: http: is a protocol used to fetch a Web page, and the rest translates to our IP Address where it can be found.
