How are Shipment Costs Calculated ?

International shipment costs are quite expensive and they are based on a complex combination of the total weight, volume (width, length, height), destination and whether we can send your order from our Canada or South East Asia shipment centre.

Our system automatically calculates the exact shipment cost that we will charge you based on the following:

1. We select our closest shipment centre that has your item(s) in stock
   
2. We look up a shipment fee for the shipment method you have chosen, based on either the volumetric weight or actual weight of your shipment
   
3. We subsidize this amount ( as a value-added service for you ) based on our company volume shipment discounts

Volumetric Weight Calculation

Most International couriers comply with IATA regulations and charge the greater of either the volumetric weight or the actual weight of your shipment ( sorry we have no control over this ).

The reason for this is that very large packages ( which may also weight very little ) still take up a large amount of space on an airplane, truck or ship.  Since both weight and space are at a premium with shipment companies, they charge the greater of the two.

The following formula can be used to calculate the volumetric weight of a shipment (all dimensions are based on the packaged box, not the individual item size):

The following tables display some standard shipment costs organized by Shipment Weight, Item Origin, Shipment Centre and Shipment Destination.  However, please be aware that these values do not include our value-added shipment discount ( up to 60% off ), and charges may be calculated based on the gross weight or volumetric weight depending on the shipment.

To determine the exact amount you will be charged for shipping your order, please select the items that you would like to purchase and proceed through the Check-Out until you reach the Shipment Options page ( you can still cancel the process at that time if you choose! ).
